It is the May Day holiday, but as a textile person, I have no concept of holidays. I can still take orders, make quotations, pay attention to the market at all times, and care about textiles! The situation of the textile market can be gleaned from the factory holiday.
Most printing and dyeing companies have holidays, but a few companies do not.
Let’s look at the printing and dyeing companies first. The large-scale printing and dyeing groups in Wujiang will have a 3-day holiday on May Day, and most other small and medium-sized manufacturers will also have a 3-day holiday. However, Some manufacturers are not taking holidays as in previous years and are busy rushing out goods. Printing and dyeing companies that are on holiday are mainly due to insufficient orders, which means they have to take days off during holidays. Printing and dyeing companies that are not on holiday have received orders for protective clothing fabrics. First, the large volume supports the availability, and second, because such orders are urgent and must be shipped as soon as possible.
Although the printing and dyeing market is polarized, the overall order volume is average, with only polyester taffeta and pongee dyeing white and light blue quantities increasing. The number of blanks received by most companies has not significantly improved.
Most weaving companies have a 7-day holiday, which will be extended in the future
Weaving factories usually have rotating holidays or reduce production, and the May Day holiday may be the longest in the industry chain. Most weaving manufacturers said they would have a 7-day holiday on May Day.
The person in charge of a simulated silk weaving company with 200 water-jet looms said that there will be a 7-day holiday during the May Day period, but it may be extended by 3-5 days depending on the situation. Imitation silk has been going downhill recently, and factory inventories have begun to accumulate again, so we need to take a break during the holidays.
Of course, there are weaving companies that do not take the May Day holiday. They do not have much inventory of gray fabrics and have execution orders on hand. In addition, they usually work on a rotational basis. There is no need for a May Day holiday, as long as the operating rate is maintained.
The person in charge of a company specializing in the production of polyester taffeta gray fabrics said: “Recently, there have been many customers taking orders for 210T polyester taffeta. Since the inventory has been cleared, orders can be placed as soon as the goods are received. It’s not finished yet, so we won’t have a holiday on May Day. After this period of work is over, we can give workers a few more days off.”
Whether it is the printing and dyeing or weaving markets, there is a phenomenon of polarization, but It can also be seen from these two industries that the entire textile market is still lukewarm and lacks support from orders. In previous years, if conventional varieties such as polyester taffeta and pongee became popular, it would also drive the sales of other types of gray fabrics, and even drive the entire textile market. Nowadays, polyester taffeta and pongee gray fabrics are so popular, but the lack of market still cannot cause a big storm. Ultimately, it’s a lack of demand!
The shrinkage of domestic sales orders continues
Although the domestic market has already resumed normal production, the entire clothing market has undergone great changes after the impact of the epidemic. Even if there are orders, the number of meters is small, and large orders are seriously missing. A trader revealed: “I have an order that I repeat all year round. In the past, it was tens of thousands of meters at a time. Since work resumed this year, each order has been only about 1,000 meters. It has shrunk seriously!”
The recovery of foreign trade orders is slow and still stagnant
Foreign trade is even more difficult to expect. Countries in Europe and the United States are still gradually unblocking, and orders have not been placed in the domestic textile market. Countries such as Japan and South Korea in Southeast Asia, as my country’s major textile exporters, have never stopped production, but orders exported to the region are still affected and have been significantly reduced. Another person in charge of a foreign trade company said that an order exported to South Korea a year ago was completed around the end of March and could be shipped to South Korea. However, the customer kept asking us not to ship the goods until he notified us, but it has not yet been shipped. No new orders have been placed, which is equivalent to a stagnant state.
Editor’s note
Therefore, the market situation will not change much in a short period of time. Even though the world is gradually resuming work, there is still a long way to go before the orders are actually placed in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang textile markets. A long process. But in this process, textile companies first need to stick to their posts, and secondly, they need to prepare for orders, such as development, stocking, etc., and even do more than after the order is placed. Better repair over a long period of time is also the only way for enterprises to develop! </p
