Researchers from the Scientific Development Laboratory of Wuhan Textile University have innovatively invented an embedded fabric that accurately senses human body temperature. This kind of fabric can weave and embed temperature sensors into the fabric, and use special manufacturing methods to make the body temperature sensor closely integrated with the fabric. This scientific and technological invention has recently been authorized with a utility model patent and published an invention patent.

The development of this new fabric expands the direction for the development of smart clothing in the future. According to the researchers, this technology adopts a special fabric structure design, which consists of a double-layer fabric wrapped with sensor electronic components and a plain fabric embedded and connected, so that the sensor electronic components are completely implanted into the fabric like a fabric tissue and integrated into one body. As a result, the accuracy of body temperature measurement is more stable.

According to reports, the close integration of fabrics and temperature-sensing electronic components can effectively solve the problems of softness, washability, foldability, comfort and other issues of temperature-sensing fabrics. Researchers said that the weaving method of this kind of fabric only requires slight modifications on traditional looms to produce it realistically, and its cost is also very low. In the future, we hope that this kind of fabric that can measure body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure and other physiological indicators of the human body can be successfully developed.
