What is “The Emperor’s New Clothes”? The real-life version of The Emperor’s New Clothes is here. The famous Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde spent 10 months designing this Intimacy garment, which is made of opaque smart electronic foil. Whenever you are nervous and your heart beats faster, the garment will “become transparent”.
This series of clothing is available in black and white, 1 meter long and 40 centimeters wide. Use smart coils and LED lights to create this “King’s New Clothes”. The garment features an inner lining that incorporates smart coils that become transparent whenever emotions are high. The coils receive heartbeat and breathing rates and become transparent.
The original purpose of designing this project is to explore the relationship between intimacy and technology, mainly to make communication between people more transparent. Therefore, the transparency of the clothes will change according to the familiarity of the other person, and even determine whether the person is lying. . The more the person in front of you lies and tries to cover up, the more “transparent” he becomes.
The company started from this concept as early as 2010 and launched several prototypes. The new style is currently unveiled before Valentine’s Day, available in white and black, but it is currently only on display in Hong Kong and Paris.
