The main purpose of the sweat-wicking layer is to create a body environment away from moisture. When the human body generates heat during exercise and sweats a lot, it can absorb moisture and sweat, prevent sweat from accumulating in the inner layer, keep it dry, and achieve moisture conduction.

GB/T 21655.1-2008 “Evaluation of moisture absorption and quick-drying properties of textiles – Part 1: Single combination test method”

Test principle: Choose 5 individual tests to comprehensively evaluate the moisture absorption and quick-drying performance of textiles. Among them, water absorption, drip diffusion time, and wicking height represent hygroscopicity; evaporation rate and moisture permeability represent quick-drying properties.

Test evaluation:

Check the test results of each item one by one. If they all meet the requirements, it can be called a “moisture-absorbing and quick-drying” product.

GB/T 21655.2-2009 “Evaluation of moisture absorption and quick-drying properties of textiles – Part 2: Dynamic moisture transfer method”

Testing principle:

Place the sample of the specified size on the liquid water dynamic transfer performance tester, monitor the movement of the liquid in the fabric structure in real time, and record the relevant data (wetting time, water absorption rate, maximum soaking radius, liquid water diffusion speed, single Transfer index, liquid water dynamic transfer comprehensive index) to evaluate the moisture absorption, quick-drying and perspiration performance of textiles.

Test evaluation:

According to the rating of each performance index value measured by the instrument, refer to Table 3 after grading to finally determine the textile performance (moisture absorption and quick drying/moisture wicking).

The testing principles of AATCC 195-2012 are similar to GB/T 21655.2-2009.

For the moisture absorption and quick-drying performance test, you can choose either a single combination test or the liquid water dynamic transfer performance test. It is recommended that you refer to GB/T 21294-2014 “Testing Methods for Physical and Chemical Properties of Clothing” when choosing a test method. Among them, the moisture absorption and quick-drying performance The test method is GB/T 21655.1-2008.
