Functional fabric: flame retardant fabric
In recent years, fires caused by fabrics have been increasing in countries around the world. Over the past few decades, the average number of fires that have occurred in our country every year has been 30,000 to 40,000, with 2000 to 3000 deaths, and fire losses of 200 to 300 million yuan.
With the development of the economy and the improvement of the national legal system, the promotion and application of fire-resistant fabrics has attracted the attention of the whole society. There is a lot of development and research on fire-proof fabrics abroad. Some industrially developed countries formulated fire-proof regulations for fabrics as early as the mid-1970s. In recent years, the requirements have become higher and higher, and the regulations have become more and more detailed. The Fire Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, which came into effect on September 1, 1998, has promoted the development of fire-proof fabric technology in our country. In recent years, my country’s research and development on fire-resistant fabrics has gradually increased and considerable progress has been made. With the acceleration of urban modernization, the development of tourism and transportation industries, and the increase in demand for exported fabrics, there is a huge potential market for fire-resistant fabrics. According to the survey, the consumption of fire protection products is mainly distributed in the steel casting industry, fire protection service industry and chemical manufacturing industry. Public service units mainly include: hospitals, military, and forest fire fighting service teams. In addition to clothing, the prospects for fire-resistant textiles for cars, trains, and airplanes, as well as seat covers, curtains, and decorative fabrics for hotels, theaters, auditoriums, and other places are also endless.
There are two main ways for fabrics to achieve fireproof functionality:
1. Use the post-finishing method to apply the fire retardant layer to the fabric surface or penetrate into the fabric.
Currently, the internationally popular fire protection technologies include Proban and CP fire protection.
Proban It is a water-soluble fire retardant that easily penetrates into the fiber, making it fire retardant. It is a post-finishing fire retardant used for cotton fiber and its blended chemical fiber fabrics. Its main feature is that after the use of this fire retardant, permanent cross-linking is formed inside the fabric, thus making it Fire retardant properties and can maintain the original properties of the fabric.
CP fire retardant fabric is a fire retardant fabric produced using imported technology and imported environmentally friendly fire retardant agents. It is superior to polybenzene fire retardant fabric. The important point is the formaldehyde content achieved through water washing and formaldehyde capture treatment. It can fully meet foreign standards, and the formaldehyde content will not rebound over time. However, the fabric strength loss caused by CP fire-proof finishing is slightly greater than that of polybenzene fire-proof fabric, and the price is higher.
2. Add the fire retardant agent with fire retardant function to the fiber through polymer polymerization, blending, copolymerization, lamination spinning, joint extrusion modification and other technologies, so that the fiber has Fire resistance, that is, fire-resistant fiber.
Fire protection currently used in domestic and foreign markets The main fibers include: Nomex, fire-resistant polyacrylonitrile fiber, fire-resistant viscose, fire-resistant polyester, fire-resistant vinylon, etc. In addition to excellent fire-resistant properties, the fire-resistant fabrics produced using these fibers are also famous for their strong washability. , because it is a fire-retardant fiber, general industrial cleaning will not affect its fire-retardant performance, and it is called a permanent fire-retardant fabric.
Fire-resistant products produced using fire-resistant fibers have the following characteristics: p>
1. Excellent permanent fire retardant performance, cleaning and friction will not affect the fire retardant performance.
2. Good safety. When the fiber encounters fire, it releases low smoke and does not release poisonous gas.
3. Using conventional fiber as the carrier, it does not produce harmful elements and meets environmental protection requirements.
p>
4. Good thermal insulation, providing all-round protection. p>
5. The fabric has the moisture absorption and release properties of conventional fibers, and has the characteristics of soft feel, comfort, breathability, and warmth.
6. Post-finishing fireproofing is mainly used for cotton or fabrics with a low proportion of chemical fibers, and fireproofing fibers use various chemical fibers as carriers to give full play to the excellent properties of various chemical fibers. performance.
Fire-resistant fabrics have a wide range of applications and can be used to make protective work clothes and very functional work clothes. They are widely used in the military, firefighting, petroleum, electric power, natural gas, metallurgy, machinery, and mining. , chemical industry, aviation, shipping and other industries; making general work clothes, especially children’s work clothes, pajamas, etc.; making home and hotel decoration supplies, such as carpets, curtains, bedding, etc.; industrial machine covers, construction tents, etc.
