The relationship between raw material selection and density design

Reasonable warp and weft density is an important and complex issue in product design. For a long time, the warp and weft density of most products has been determined based on design experience and the original specifications. The design of warp and weft density involves many factors, including the selection of raw materials, the linear density and twist of the silk thread, the organizational structure of the fabric and the use of the product. 1. The relationship between raw material selection and density design (1) Mulberry silk is soft, smooth and has a fine linear density. When using it as raw material, the warp and weft density should be appropriately large so that the fabric can better reflect the delicate and smooth characteristics. Raw woven silk, the outer layer of raw silk fiber is wrapped with about 25% sericin. The silk body is hard and slippery, and it is difficult to weave enough weft density. Technological measures such as soaking, water bathing, and moistening should be consciously adopted to soften the silk threads in order to increase the weft density of the fabric. (2) Fabrics made of synthetic fibers have poor air permeability, and the fabric feels hard after heat treatment, so the density should be appropriately reduced when designing. Synthetic filaments that have been treated with false twisting and puffing have curled fibers and increased gaps in the filaments, which have a great effect on improving the appearance, feel and air permeability of the fabric. When choosing such low-elastic or high-elastic yarn, in addition to matching the loose tissue structure, the fabric density should also be reduced so that the fiber can be fully shrunk and expanded during post-processing. (3) Various types of short fibers, with rough and furry surfaces, are used for pure weaving or interlacing with filaments. Generally, they are not prone to splitting due to sliding displacement of warp and weft filaments. From the perspective of reducing raw material consumption, the warp and weft density can also be appropriately reduced without affecting the use of the fabric.
