Microsoft intervenes in Singapore Affle and acquires 20% of its shares
According to India’s Economic Times, software giant Microsoft has acquired a 20% stake in Singaporean mobile marketing company Affle’s second round of financing. Affle’s business is currently mainly in Asia, and India’s Bharti Airtel is its largest shareholder.
According to Affle, its cooperation with Microsoft will help it rapidly expand its business to markets such as the United States, Europe and Australia. According to Affle in a statement, Affle’s SMS2.0 text message marketing service will help increase the traffic of Microsoft’s Windows Live service and MSN content from mobile phone users and “create” a large number of mobile phone advertising spaces.
Affle is India’s largest mobile media company, with more than 120 million “targeted” exposures per month. Affle has raised US$10 million in funding from private equity firms in Singapore and individual investors in India in the past.
