Last week, the editor went to a friend’s weaving factory to find him and asked him how his business was this year. I thought he would complain, after all, the textile market environment this year was indeed unsatisfactory. Unexpectedly, he replied that this year’s orders had been received by the end of the year, and it was too late to make the orders.
The editor took a look at the factory and found that all the machines were indeed running. Unlike many factories now where there are many blanks piled up, the warehouse where the inventory is usually stored was also empty.
The editor couldn’t help but wonder, why is their factory doing so well? He said that he was also very strange, but from the conversation with him, the editor still concluded a few things.
How big is the bowl and how much rice is eaten
My friend’s factory was opened more than ten years ago. At that time, it slowly increased to 100 looms. After more than ten years of operation, it still only has 100looms. My friend said that his ability is limited. If there are too many looms, the problems caused by production and sales will increase geometrically, and he may not be able to manage it by then.
Although the looms are fully operational now, they only have a production capacity of 100 units. We can still take orders from some old customers. Some larger factories have thousands of looms. Even if they are only half-operated, they still have a production capacity of 500 looms. Under the current market conditions, they want to sell off so much production capacity. Not easy. Moreover, companies with larger production capacity often have several very stable large customers. However, once these large customers begin to strategically shrink and reduce the number of orders, it will be difficult to find replacements for the vacant production capacity in the market.
Product development capabilities
In Shengze, there are many companies with a production capacity of 100 looms, but not all companies can take orders and receive soft orders. Those companies with good business have their own The “unique secret” of our friend’s company is product development capabilities. Since the factory first opened, my friend’s father has been wandering around the market in the off-season every year. When he sees any products that he thinks are distinctive, he will think about how to make this fabric. When you have no clue, you will be very distressed and rack your brains to figure out how to produce fabrics. It’s OK that customers don’t come to buy this fabric, but the fabric company has to make it.
After years of accumulation, the factory has accumulated a group of employees with strong fabric development capabilities. Now, as long as customers bring samples, they can weave them.
Machine and Management
Although there are only 100 machines, these machines are updated every year. Otherwise, they cannot produce some of the latest fabrics, and twenty or thirty machines that are about to become outdated are replaced every year. machine. China’s weaving level is improving rapidly, which places relatively high demands on looms.
Machines need to be replaced, and management needs to keep up. In the workshop entering the factory, you can see a large screen showing the production status of the machine. For every piece of cloth produced, a corresponding barcode will be generated and entered into the database for easy traceability. At the same time, we will strengthen salary management and propose incentive mechanisms to increase production enthusiasm.
My friend said that they are talking about digital industrialization now, and he does not understand the reason behind it, but he knows that after adopting the management system, the production efficiency has indeed improved, and unnecessary losses caused by some small mistakes have been avoided.
The spring of “good students” is here
Just like when I was a student, I saw some students who were good at studying and didn’t seem to work hard, but their test scores were among the best every time. This is because you have developed good habits and some things have formed inertia. As long as you follow the right path, the results will generally not be too bad. Excellent companies also have this habit, forming a positive cycle.
China’s textile industry now has both opportunities and challenges. The challenge lies in the shrinking global economy and competition from cheap textiles from Southeast Asian countries, making it difficult to win by price. The opportunity lies in manufacturing in Europe, America, Japan and South Korea. The industry has been affected, and a large number of high value-added orders have flowed to China. After so many years of development, China is finally able to undertake these demands.
