The annual May Day holiday is ushering in again. This year’s May Day holiday seems to be a little different, and it will usher in a peak tourist trip. As a textile person, I also have a desire to go out and have fun, but how many vacations do I have?

1 Most printing and dyeing factories have 1-2 days of holiday on May Day

Let’s first take a look at the holidays in the printing and dyeing industry. According to research, most printing and dyeing factories have 1-2 days of holidays. There are also a few manufacturers that do not take holidays and a very small number of manufacturers take a five-day long holiday. Many manufacturers have received notices of the May Day holiday. Although no formal written notice has been issued, verbal notices have been conveyed.

The holiday time of fabric trading companies mostly follows the holiday time of printing and dyeing factories. Therefore, most trading companies also have 1-2 days of holiday, and some have a 5-day long holiday. Generally speaking, there are not many May Day holidays in the textile industry this year, and textile people are working hard.

Although the dyeing factories have been busy since the beginning of the new year, as the traditional peak season in April is coming to an end, the market is also slowing down, and the dyeing factories are not as busy as before and are a little more relaxed. With orders just maintaining normal production, it is hard to say whether the dyeing factory will have a holiday, let alone a long holiday.

2 The market outlook is bearish

Currently, the operating rate of printing and dyeing factories in Shengze is 72.8%, an increase of 2.8% compared with the same period last year. Although there is not a big difference in the start-up rate compared with last year, the delivery time this year is generally around 7-10 days, while last year it only took 5-7 days. With the same start-up rate, the delivery time this year is slightly longer, indicating that the number of orders is still more than last year, and the increase in start-up is limited due to various reasons.

The current market as a whole is “unevenly hot and cold”. Although some manufacturers suddenly received orders at the end of the month, which also caused their early May Day holiday plans to be cancelled, most textile factories will still implement holiday plans on May Day, even more than during Qingming Festival. The holidays are coming even longer! For most textile bosses, from the beginning of the year to April now, orders have plummeted compared to peak seasons in previous years. Looking at the inventory that has been piling up recently, this is actually more worrying than stock trading!

As textile people, everyone has a deep understanding of the hard work, which can be described as “all year round”. But after experiencing the epidemic, textile workers began to take more holidays. In previous years, most manufacturers only had one day of holiday or even no holiday at all. Even if there is a long holiday like National Day, dyeing factories usually only have about two days off.

For dyeing factories, orders are taken first and work is done slowly. After all, if you do it quickly, once new orders are not followed up later, it is easy for the opening rate to seriously decline. In order to avoid waiting for workers later, it is also beneficial to suspend production for two days during the May Day holiday. On the other hand, working on holidays seems a bit inhumane, and it is hard for workers to keep their hearts in check. Rather than being forced to work and causing a high error rate, it is better to take a holiday.

Coming soon to May, the traditional peak season of the weaving market will also begin to return to calm, and signs of the off-season have initially emerged. During the survey, everyone’s overall expectations for the upcoming May are also weak. Many textile professionals have already “given up” on the market situation in the first half of the year and place their hopes on the market in the second half of the year.
