Abstract: This article focuses on the principles and quality standards of cotton and polyester-cotton workwear fabrics’ three-proofing (water-blocking, oil-proof, and stain-repellent) plus easy stain-removal finishing. Requirements, all process processes, and product protection functions have been tested and achieved. 1 Preface
Functional fabrics have a variety of protective functions, thus expanding their scope of use, especially the protective and health-care properties that have beneficial effects on the human body, so the demand has increased year by year in recent years. Over the years, our company has produced a series of workwear fabrics with various functions for domestic and foreign customers. The main varieties include cotton, polyester-cotton, polyester-covered cotton and other woven fabrics, such as: cotton, polyester-cotton, three-proof and easy to remove stains after finishing. The fabric requirements are: water-blocking, oil-proof, decontamination and easy to decontaminate. The customer’s protective finishing requirements for this product are as follows:
Water blocking: 90-100 minutes initially, 70 minutes after 10 washes
Oil-proof: Initial Level 6 Wash 10 times Level 3
Decontamination: Initial Level 4 Wash 10 times Level 3

2 Basic Principles
2.1 Mechanism of three-proof finishing
2.1.1 Design principles of water-blocking and breathable fabrics
Water-blocking and breathable fabrics mainly use the difference between the small diameter of external water droplets (20-100 um) and the diameter of human moisture molecules (0.0003-100 um) to make the structural gaps of the designed fabric both It can block the entry of small water droplets from the outside and allow human sweat to be emitted through the fabric. According to the water-repellent and breathable mechanism of fabrics, water-repellent and breathable fabrics can be designed and produced from the following aspects: high-density fabrics, PU-coated fabrics, laminated fabrics and fabrics with functional finishing of fabrics

2.2 Cleaning up after decontamination
Polyester and other synthetic fibers are hydrophobic and lipophilic fibers, which are very easy to stain and difficult to wash off after being stained with oil.
And re-contamination often occurs during repeated cleaning processes. This phenomenon also occurs when cleaning blended chemical fiber fabrics. After the cotton fiber is treated with anti-wrinkle resin, the hydroxyl groups are blocked to a certain extent, the hydrophilicity is reduced, and staining will also occur. The purpose of post-decontamination finishing is to improve these shortcomings.

One is soil repellent finishing. Later, on the basis of fluorine-containing stain-repellent finishing agents, hydrophilic groups were introduced, which developed into a product with the dual functions of stain-repelling and improving grease shedding properties.
2.2.1 Main sources of fabric contamination
The composition of oil pollution is particularly complex and can be roughly divided into three categories:
(1) Solid particle dirt (such as soot, soil, rust, etc.);
(2) Oil and fatty substances (such as machine oil, beef tallow, indoor cooking grease, fat excreted from the body, etc.);
(3) Water-soluble substances (cosmetics, ink, coffee, etc.).
2.2.2 There are generally three ways of contamination on fabrics:
(1) Physical contact: For example, clothing cuffs, collars, etc. are often in contact with the skin and are easily contaminated with fat and dirt. Hydrophobic and lipophilic fibers are more likely to be contaminated.
(2) Electrostatic adsorption: The surface conductivity and hygroscopicity of hydrophobic synthetic fibers such as polyester are very low. Static electricity is easily generated during friction. (3) Re-contamination during cleaning: The critical surface tension of hydrophobic synthetic fibers such as polyester in water is much greater than that in the atmosphere, so the oil stains on the fabric are not easy to wash off and are easily susceptible to damage. Dirt floating in the cleaning fluid is recontaminated.
2.2.3 Decontamination mechanism
Solid dirt is mainly deposited on fabric surface irregularities, fiber gaps, intersecting points, etc. due to static electricity adsorption when in contact with dirt. Grease dirt is mainly deposited through mechanical adsorption and chemical forces ( van der Waals forces and adhesion forces) combined with the fabric surface. Increase the smoothness and antistatic properties of the fabric surface, which can reduce the deposition of solid dirt. To prevent contamination of liquid and oily dirt, the fabric should be made to have water- and oil-repellent properties. The water-repellent and oil-repellent properties of the fabric are based on limited wetting as the condition and premise.
After melt spinning to produce anti-fouling fibers, the filaments are treated with an oil containing a hydrophobic smoothing agent (solid at room temperature), and then heated, drawn and crimped. Make other oil ingredients except hydrophobic smoothing agent fall off. For example, the stain-resistant colored carpet yarn invented in Japan is made by melt-spinning a thermoplastic polymer containing liquid color pigments and then finishing it by the above method.
Conduct easy stain-repellent finishing and water-repellent and oil-repellent finishing on fabrics. There are many kinds of water- and oil-repellent finishing agents and finishing processes for fabrics, which can be optimized through experiments.
3 Three-proof, easy decontamination finishing process
It has been proved through experiments that the three-proof finishing and the easy-decontamination finishing will affect each other. In order to solve this problem, we found the process balance point after many experiments: adopt the three-proof and easy-decontamination The one-bath padding process of finishing agent goes through drying, baking and other processes, so that the fabric can achieve the three-proof effect and achieve the purpose of easy decontamination.
