What are the testing standards for anti-UV sunscreen?

There are three main categories of international cover-up fabrics, namely PU coating, chemical fiber and pure cotton. The sun protection standard is specifically reflected in its UPF (sun protection degree). The generally accepted standard is: when the UPF is 15 to 35, the grade is good; when the UPF is lower than 15, the fabric cannot be called fully covered.
The ultraviolet shielding rate is the current standard for distinguishing the shielding effect of domestic products.

Level A: UV shielding rate is above 90%;

Level B: UV shielding rate is above 80%;

Level C: UV shielding rate is above 50%.

Generally it is better to choose grade A. The shielding rate is calculated based on the integral value of transmittance in the wavelength range of 280 to 400nm.
Australia and New Zealand pay more attention to ultraviolet protection. They have developed testing standards and evaluation methods for finishing fabrics after masking. In 1996, the UPF value was used to indicate the UV shielding performance of clothing.
Regarding the evaluation of the covering performance of fabrics, my country’s testing basis for covering fabrics generally adopts the internationally popular Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 4399-1966.
At present, domestic and foreign standards generally use the UPF value, that is, the ultraviolet protection factor value, to evaluate the covering performance of fabrics. The larger the UPF value, the better the covering performance. The national standard that will be introduced soon stipulates that only when the UPF value is greater than 30 and the UVA transmittance is less than 5%, it can be called a fully covered product. The protection level is marked: UPF 30+; when the UPF value is 50, it indicates that the product The product’s UV protection performance is excellent, and the protection level is marked: UPF 50+.
