A semi-trailer caught fire while driving, turning 31 tons of cotton into ashes
2016At about 1 o’clock in the morning on December 31, 2016, a car from Driving from Xinjiang, a large truck carrying 31 tons of cotton suddenly caught fire when its tires were driving to the Mengjiawan section of Zhongwei Yingpanshui Expressway on the Dingwu Expressway. The fire then ignited the cotton loaded in the carriage.
After receiving the alarm, the Ningxia Zhongwei City Fire Detachment rushed to the scene of the accident to deal with it. When fire officers and soldiers arrived at the scene, they saw that the large truck on fire was parked in the emergency parking lane of the highway. The cotton bales in the truck had been engulfed by the fire, and a layer of thick smoke enveloped the scene. It took firefighters nearly six hours to extinguish the fire. According to truck driver Wang Jianglong, a tire caught fire while the truck was driving. He used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but the fire became bigger and bigger. He tried to use sand to put it out, but it still had no effect, so he called the police. According to preliminary information from the fire department at the scene, the cause of the fire may have been caused by overheating of the brake pads.
