Turkmenistan will host international textile exhibition
According to a report by “Independent Media Trends” on May 31, on June 4-5, the Ministry of Textiles of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan will jointly hold the “Turkmenistan Textile Industry Towards a New Era” international exhibition, which will exhibit various Cotton and linen, cotton yarn, cotton cloth, sewing, knitting, silk, velvet and their products, denim clothing, handmade silk carpets, etc.
The textile industry occupies an important position in Turkmenistan’s economy. Increasing product competitiveness and attracting foreign investment are the main purposes of structural reform of the textile industry. In recent years, Turkmenistan has invested US$1.6 billion to create dozens of textile companies, and the output of cotton and linen products has increased by 51%. Most of the products are exported to the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Turkey, China, and Ukraine. In 2016, the country’s planting area was 545,000 hectares, and it was planned to harvest 1.05 million tons of cotton; in 2015, the task was exceeded, with a cotton harvest of 1.1 million tons.
