Guangzhou City Supervisor: Random inspection of 56 batches of student schoolbags found that 16 batches did not meet the standard requirements
Recently, the Guangzhou Municipal Administration for Market Regulation announced the results of the 2022 quality supervision and inspection of Guangzhou student schoolbag products.
In 2022, the Guangzhou Municipal Administration for Market Regulation conducted supervision and random inspections on the quality of student schoolbag products. A total of 56 batches of samples were randomly inspected. After inspection, 16 batches of products did not meet the standard requirements.
This spot check is based on the mandatory national standards GB 21027-2020, QB/T 1333-2018, QB/T 2858-2007 and corporate product standards on logos, appearance, comfort, book bag straps, handles, pulleys and Tie rods, load-bearing, accessories, zipper durability, stitching strength, color fastness to rubbing, corrosion resistance of electroplating accessories/hardware accessories, free formaldehyde, oscillation impact performance, lock durability, fastener durability, plastic buckle durability, The folding resistance of the straps, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes and other items were tested. The unqualified items involve corrosion resistance of logos, electroplating accessories/hardware accessories, and oscillation impact performance.
Main unqualified items and situation analysis
1. Logo:
The logo is the main window for consumers to understand the performance of the product. If the label is incorrect or missing, it may mislead consumers and affect their judgment and purchase unsuitable products. There are two main reasons for unqualified product markings: First, companies do not pay enough attention to product marking issues; second, producers do not understand the labeling requirements for labels in relevant product standards, resulting in intentional or unintentional omissions or mislabeling.
2. Oscillation impact performance:
The oscillation impact performance is an important assessment index to determine whether each component of the luggage can maintain its normal performance after being subjected to oscillation impact during actual use. The testing principle of this project is to load the luggage with the specified load and then separate the straps and lifting straps. Hang the components on the oscillation impact machine and vibrate them for a specified number of times, then observe the damage of the samples. The oscillating impact not only assesses the fastness of the combination of straps, handles and other components with the bag body, as well as the breaking strength of these components themselves, but also assesses the overall quality of the bag body such as the fabric breaking performance and stitching process. Products with unqualified oscillation and impact performance are prone to damage during use, affecting use. Common signs of damage include falling off of stress-bearing parts such as handles and straps, broken connectors, tearing of fabric at seams, and broken sutures. The main reasons for the failure of this project are: First, sewing problems, such as weak seams at the connections between straps, single handles, side handles, and other parts and the bag body; second, strap loop problems, such as various types of connecting parts The strap loop is too narrow, too thin or has no reinforced base, resulting in poor mechanical properties of the strap loop; the third is the connection problem, such as the binding of the connection between the strap loop and the bag body is not firm, or the quality of the connection is poor; the fourth is the fabric The problem is that samples with insufficient fabric strength are prone to tearing at the seams.
In addition, the reasons for non-compliance with oscillation impact performance also include the unsuitability of the product quality standards stated by the company. There are two industry standards cited by schoolbags on the market, namely QB/T 2858-2007 “Student Schoolbags” and QB/ T 1333-2018 “Backpack”, among which QB/T 1333-2018 “Backbag” has strict requirements on load-bearing performance and needs to assess the oscillation impact performance items, while QB/T 2858-2007 “Student Bag” assesses load-bearing and requires lower. If the company is not familiar with the performance of the products it produces, QB/T 1333-2018 “Backpack” which clearly states higher load-bearing requirements can easily cause unqualified oscillation impact performance.
3. Corrosion resistance of electroplating accessories/hardware accessories:
Products such as luggage and bags often have hardware parts such as fasteners and D-rings. If the corrosion resistance of the hardware parts is poor, corrosion will easily occur in daily use, which not only affects the appearance, but also the substances released by the corroded parts are often harmful to the human body. The unqualified corrosion resistance is mainly due to the poor plating quality of the product’s hardware components or improper storage, which leads to damage to the surface coating and obvious corrosion during the corrosion resistance test, which does not meet the standard requirements.
