The laboratory of Guangxi Sericulture Genetic Technology Innovation Center was unveiled
The “Guangxi Sericulture Genetic Improvement and Technology Innovation Center Laboratory” experimental building was recently inaugurated.
The sericulture industry is an important characteristic and advantageous industry in Guangxi agriculture that enriches the people. The central laboratory mainly conducts research in four aspects: molecular breeding, pathological research on diseases and insect pests, gene function and application research, and development of special sericulture products. It fills the shortcomings of the Guangxi Sericulture Technology Extension Station in basic sericulture research and further consolidates the foundation for industrial development. The laboratory experimental building of Guangxi Sericulture Genetic Improvement and Technology Innovation Center started construction in 2020. The laboratory area is 2085.6 square meters, and the total value of instruments and equipment in 32 laboratory functional zones exceeds 6 million yuan.
Li Ruping, chief agronomist of the Guangxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that the next focus of Guangxi’s basic sericulture research is to cultivate and introduce high-level talents to produce more scientific research results and comprehensively Develop the soft power of the laboratory and build the central laboratory into a provincial and ministerial-level key laboratory that is first in Guangxi, first-class in the country, and world-famous, and even a national-level key laboratory, forming a cross-border multidisciplinary coordinated development with sericulture as the research theme. A professional, interdisciplinary, and cross-field comprehensive experimental platform supports the highquality and sustainable development of Guangxi’s sericulture industry.
