Nowadays, under the environmental protection barrier, the waterproofing agent is gradually transformed from C8 to C6. According to statistics, the entire Chinese market consumed about 13,000-15,000 tons of fluoride in 2014, of which C8 products accounted for 85%. Such a large amount also fully demonstrates the excellent waterproof and oil-proof effect of C8. However, there is a concept that has long been implanted in everyone’s mind: the waterproof effect of C6 is never as good as that of C8. So, what is the reason why C6 waterproofing agent is not as effective as C8? Below we mainly discuss from three aspects:

1.The problem of carbon chain length (i.e. fluoride content): fluorine element is embedded in the carbon chain. If there is too much embedded fluorine element , then the carbon chain will become longer, and as the carbon chain becomes longer, the stability between molecules will also be strengthened. When the stability is strengthened, the ability to resist external stains and oil stains will also be enhanced.

2.Influence of the cleanliness of the cloth surface: Regarding impurities on the surface of the fabric, the impact on C6 will be higher than that of C8, and C6 must be treated before treatment Make sure the cloth surface is clean; C8 will also have requirements, but the requirements are not as high as those of C6. Therefore, the cleanliness of the cloth surface is very important to C6.

3.The impact of matching softener: This is also related to the length of the carbon chain, and the softener will have an impact on the waterproof effect. , it just means that the impact of C8 is less than that of C6.
