The May Day holiday is here, and most textile workers have finally come to rest. Most printing and dyeing companies have also clarified their holiday times, and most of them are three days.

This year’s printing and dyeing holiday overall feels a bit long. In previous years, even if it happened to be a long holiday like National Day Generally, dyeing factories only have about two days of holiday. It is a bit surprising that such a common three-day holiday this year. Of course, some of the dyeing factories stopped production and went on holiday due to the overhaul of the sewage pipe network, but we can also see that many other dyeing factories took the initiative to go on holiday. With orders so busy, it’s hard to say whether the dyeing factory will have a holiday, let alone three days at a time. The holiday period is longer this year, which is basically based on the current situation of poor textile orders.

Production is crowded, but the operating rate is lower than in previous years

Most dyeing factories this year give people It feels like everything is extremely busy. Since the beginning of the year, there have been constant news of stockouts of various gray fabrics. In March and April, it is very common to queue up for more than a week. So does such crowded production mean that the printing and dyeing market is booming?

From the changes in the operating rates of printing and dyeing plants in recent years, it can be seen that there is still a certain gap between the printing and dyeing market this year and previous years. The operating rate during the peak season in April is much lower than in normal years. So why do printing and dyeing factories give us such a busy feeling in production?

Mainly because the market situation in dyeing factories is severely differentiated, and we pay too much attention to those The dyeing factory is crowded with production. At any time, in the printing and dyeing market, there will be dyeing factories with good and bad prices. It is just a matter of relative number. During the peak season, there are more dyeing factories that are doing well, and during the bad season, there are fewer dyeing factories that are doing well. There are many dyeing factories that are doing well in the peak season this year, but they are far less numerous than in previous years.

According to market visits, among the nearly 20 printing and dyeing companies, only four or five have been fully operational for a long time in March and April, and the other has been lower than 80% for a long time. There are about 5 printing and dyeing factories in China, and the operating rate of many of them is lower than 50% most of the time, while other companies are hovering between 80% and 100%. In other words, the vast majority of printing and dyeing factories are currently unable to achieve full production. When most enterprises are not saturated in production, how can the market be considered good?

In March and April of previous years, almost all printing and dyeing factories would encounter production congestion and queues. However, this year some seem to have a lot of orders, but in fact they are incomparable to previous years. . Many dyeing factories are not even busy with production during the peak season. The market will only be worse in the off-season in the future. On the other hand, the current order structure of printing and dyeing factories is not reasonable enough.

Reduced foreign trade orders and over-reliance on the domestic trade market Order

According to feedback from many dyeing factory staff, the current orders of printing and dyeing factories are mainly “market orders” for domestic trade. The number of these orders is huge. In the short term, the printing and dyeing market will be extremely busy, but the corresponding normal orders have been mediocre this year.

According to a textile foreign trade dealer, their foreign trade orders this year are very pessimistic. They have dropped by 30% compared to the same period in 2020. You must know that in 2020 Because of the epidemic, their orders have dropped by 50% compared to previous years. The domestic epidemic has ended this year, but the textile foreign trade market does not seem to be improving. Repeated epidemics in Europe and the United States, international relations, and high textile and clothing inventories last year have resulted in a significant reduction in foreign trade orders, and the number of orders that naturally flow to printing and dyeing is also quite limited.

In addition, printing and dyeing factories’ preference for market orders also affects the production of normal orders to a certain extent. Market orders with large quantities and low requirements can quickly increase the operating rate and profits of printing and dyeing factories, while normal orders with small quantities and high requirements do not have these advantages. Printing and dyeing factories are naturally more keen on market orders. According to a trader, they purchased more than 1,000 meters of cloth on March 24, but the order was not scheduled for production in the workshop until around April 10. Mainly because the printing and dyeing factories are busy producing market orders, leaving all orders on the sidelines to wait.

However, the sustainability of market orders has always been questioned. The criticism is that after all, this type of order requires stocking and replenishment. After a wave of busy production, there is often a longer wait. During the peak season, these orders failed to support the operating rate of printing and dyeing factories. When the off-season comes, the production load of printing and dyeing factories may further weaken.
