Common methods for fabric coating finishing
Common methods for fabric coating finishing
Coated fabric is a kind of textile in which the coating adhesive material forms a single or multi-layer coating in situ on one side or both sides of the fabric. Composed of two or more layers of material, at least one of which is a textile and the other is a fully continuous polymer coating.
Coating Classification
Transfer Coating
Transfer coating involves applying a polymer to a release paper to form a film, and then pressing the film onto the fabric. In this method, the polymer does not come into contact with the fabric until it forms the actual film. Transfer coating is mainly used for knitted fabrics. Compared with woven fabrics, knitted fabrics have a looser structure and are easier to stretch, and direct coating technology cannot be used. Unlike direct coatings, transfer coatings are often applied as a surface layer to a material.
Set coating
Solidified coating, also known as wet coating, is to dissolve polyurethane in a solvent, and then remove the solvent under certain conditions to form a solidified body. This material is soft, has a porous structure and is the basis for imitation leather.
Coating finishing is a fabric surface finishing technology that evenly coats one or more layers of polymer compounds that can form thin films on the surface of textiles to achieve different functions on both sides of the fabric. Coating can not only change the appearance style of the fabric, but also increase the functionality of the fabric, making the fabric more beautiful
The added value is increased.
1. Dry coating:
After diluting the coating agent, add the required additives to prepare a usable slurry, apply it evenly on the fabric, and then heat the coated fabric. After the solvent or water evaporates, the coating agent can be applied to the fabric. A thin and hard film forms on the surface.
2. Transfer film forming method:
This method is to first apply the slurry on transfer media such as silicone or other resin-treated transfer paper, rubber belts, etc., then overlap the slurry-coated transfer medium with the fabric, and then press the slurry to transfer it to On the fabric, after drying, cooling and other processes, the paper and fabric coatings are separated to obtain the coated fabric. This film-forming process is more suitable for finishing light fabrics that cannot withstand tension.
3. Hot melt film forming method:
The thermoplastic polyurethane is heated to a molten state, coated on the fabric, and cooled to form a thin film on the surface of the fabric.
4. Adhesion method:
This method is mainly used for finishing thick fabric products such as interior decoration fabrics. The production process is to stick a film with a thickness of 2.5mm to 4mm on the surface of the fabric with an adhesive, and then press it to make it firmly stick to the fabric and become one.
5. Wet film forming:
Dissolve polyurethane with a linear structure in dimethylformamide (DMF), add additives to make a coating slurry, and coat it on the fabric. When in contact with water, DMF can dissolve into water but the polyurethane resin is insoluble, so The concentration of the resin increases rapidly, and the cohesion between molecules increases, forming a semi-permeable thin layer instantly
DMF continues to diffuse into the water through this semi-permeable membrane. At this time, water also diffuses into the coating, thus forming an unstable coating and forming a skeleton structure to form a film with micropores.
Coating Application
It is widely used in sportswear, down jackets, rain-proof parkas, jackets, tents, shoes and socks, curtains, bags and ski shirts with advanced waterproof and breathable functions, mountaineering clothes, windbreakers, etc.
It can also be used in national defense, navigation, fishing, offshore oil wells, transportation and other fields.
Waterproof coating series fabrics have multiple functions such as windproof, waterproof, and moisture permeability.
From the perspective of the fashion market: 50% of casual wear is made of coated fabrics. The main styles include vests and jackets, which use high-quality PU coating and are relatively light and thin. The colors tend to be light and elegant, including light blue, light gray, light purple, etc. At first glance, it looks like a breeze, fresh and beautiful. The biggest advantage of coated clothing is that it feels smooth, rainproof, and easy to clean. Since its launch, it has been loved by young people and has sold well. The consumer group of coated clothing is mainly young men, women and middle school students. This type of clothing is not expensive and has many styles, catering to the consumption characteristics of young people.
