Comparison of American and European standards: 100 points (Level 5); 90 points (Level 4); 80 points (Level 3); 70 points (Level 2); 50 points (Level 1); 0 points (Level 0) .
There are three types of water repellent: general water repellent (Water Repellent, abbreviated as: W/R), durable water repellent (Durable Water Repellent, which is commonly called super water repellent in the outdoor fabric industry, abbreviated as: DWR)
(1) General water resistance (W/R): After washing a few times, the surface of the clothing will no longer be water repellent. Generally speaking, outdoor water resistance is enough. The commonly used data is 70 minutes before washing. If you often go hiking or have The climate on the mountain is very changeable, and it may rain at any time. Generally, water-repellent work clothes will not block the water after being washed several times, causing the surface of the clothes to get wet, and wearing them will increase the weight on the human body.
(2) Super water repellent (DWR): C8 water-blocking water produced by Japan’s Daikin or other additive companies maintains an effect of 80 points (European standard level 3) after washing 20 times; because the fluorine content does not comply with the EU standard, now banned by the EU. Nowadays, C6 and C4 are mostly used. Generally, the effect of 80 points can be maintained after 5-10 times of washing.
