DuPont will participate in the 2010-2015 perfluorooctanoic acid and its salts (PFOA) environmental plan initiated by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and DuPont have reached an agreement: DuPont will participate in the 2010-2015 perfluorooctanoic acid and its salts (PFOA) environmental plan initiated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
PFOA is a basic finishing additive for the production of fluoropolymers and is one of the raw materials used by DuPont to produce best-selling non-stick pan materials.
The core of DuPont’s commitment to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s plan includes reducing PFOA emissions from in-scope manufacturing facilities by 98% by 2007, including the significant 94% reduction achieved through DuPont’s long-term efforts. ; Set a total emission cap standard for production facilities in the United States to limit the absolute amount of emissions; implement product limits for PFOA in fluoropolymer dispersions; reduce PFOA content in fluorotelomer products and the substances that may decompose to form PFOA any residual impurities. DuPont pointed out that the US Environmental Protection Agency’s plan will accelerate the pace of industry-wide reduction of PFOA emissions in the environment, while also ensuring the manufacturing process of key products in many basic industries such as telecommunications, aerospace, semiconductors, fire protection and consumer goods. Continue to use PFOA.
DuPont will also work alone or in collaboration with other members of the industry to inform the government environmental protection departments of the European Union, Canada, China and Japan on the progress of the above activities and new information on PFOA.
